Technology is a tool used by humans to work more efficiently, and has an enormous influence over all aspects of modern society.

This revolution included invention of machines such as spinning jennys and power looms that allowed work to be done more quickly and efficiently; and new sources of energy, like coal.

Transportation innovations included railroads, offering manufacturers an economical method of moving raw materials and finished goods from point A to B. Technology may get a bad rap, but its benefits to society cannot be overlooked. For instance, technology makes communication between people easier despite distance. Furthermore, it has enabled individuals to start businesses or find jobs more quickly.

The Internet

The Internet is an international network of computer networks connecting people worldwide. You can send instantaneous messages across borders and access almost any piece of information with just a click or two of your mouse.

Shopping has never been simpler thanks to online outlets from major retailers like Walmart. Furthermore, the internet has transformed entertainment; long gone are the days of visiting a video store just for renting movies; now Netflix or Spotify offer great streaming video and audio services that you can easily stream movies or songs to.

Internet has also increased work efficiency. Individuals can work from their homes, communicating with colleagues worldwide. This has increased productivity in businesses and made the workplace much more effective.


Technology makes communication between people easier, through platforms such as social media, email, video conferencing and texting.

Technology can also cause issues. It makes personal data easily accessible, raising concerns over privacy and potential cybercrime; furthermore it distracts people from spending quality time with family and friends.

Technology has enabled people to work together across borders or even the globe. For instance, an English person can hold a conference call with someone in America using software like Zoom – saving businesses money while increasing efficiency while enabling employees to work from home more easily. Furthermore, such technology improves healthcare quality by giving doctors better tools for diagnosing patients.


Thanks to technology, those suffering from serious health conditions now have a higher chance of survival than ever before. Furthermore, treatments that seemed impossible before are now possible; examples include the polio vaccine, mechanical respirator and pacemaker.

Technology may get a bad rep, but its innovations have improved our lives immensely. Transportation innovations remain at the core of technological progress – whether that means getting across town or across space (and back!).

Passenger transport may take two forms: public, where government provides scheduled services for all, or private. Freight transportation often uses containerization systems while some cargo can even move directly from production to consumption. Good land use often favors placing higher-density development near transport lines to minimize transport needs and achieve economies of agglomeration.

Ridesharing companies such as Uber and Lyft offer on-demand service with flexibility and cost efficiency in mind, while technological innovations like air freighters and hyperloops utilizing magnetic propulsion and low pressure to transport passengers at speeds surpassing commercial aircrafts are making huge strides forward.
