Changing Your Internet Protocol Number Is A Must For Computer Security

Internet Protocol version 6 was introduced in the year 2000 with the introduction of the Domain Name System (DNS). The Internet itself is an IP-based protocol. What this means is that, like all other protocols, IP version 6 has to be translated into an IP address, which can be done in a number of ways.

There are a number of people who have noticed that the Internet service providers (ISPs) are changing the method by which they assign IP addresses to their clients. For instance, some ISPs assign client IP addresses using numerical sequences rather than using the more familiar octal format. This can be seen as a deviation from the usual practice of using IP numbers in the internet protocol.

There are a number of reasons why the use of octal IP addresses is no longer the trend. One of these is because of packet loss. As stated earlier, it is very important for the Internet to be able to process large amounts of data. With a larger number of IP addresses used in the same network, there is a higher risk of losing these packets to hackers who might attempt to use them for illegal means. For this reason, some ISPs are going back to the traditional packets of IP addresses in their services.

However, there are still some people who prefer using octal IP addresses. One of these is to avoid the use of hops along the lines of the Internet in order to avoid use of up-to-date addresses. If there is an option to choose from, choosing the older, octal Internet protocol version 6 addresses would be preferable because they are easier to obtain. An example of an older address would be 65.2. Lobbyists are constantly using the Internet for their various campaigns and so it is just natural for people to want to use IPv6 addresses to protect their privacy wherever possible.

There is also a trend among some businesses to get their own dedicated servers for their Internet needs. If the company is not into web design and does not have its own software to maintain the website properly, then it would be much better off with using the old reliable method of using IP addresses. Since the latest versions of the Internet protocols do not support the concept of two different IP addresses being on the same server, then there will be no issue at all if the business owner has his own IP address. Some people believe that using old IP addresses is safer because hackers can not easily find out which server he is on and thus won’t be able to gain access to the information he needs.

When you are looking for ways to protect your computer system from the many dangers that internet protocol has brought upon us, you should definitely take the time to switch from using the old non-working or broken systems to using the newer, safe and efficient ipv6 systems. You will not only be ensuring the security of your network but you will also be saving yourself a lot of money that would otherwise have gone down the drain for new and more expensive equipments. So, if you are still using old IP addresses, maybe it is time to upgrade.
